Just who is the Culinary Counselor? Why, it’s me! Although I could be considered an obscure entity, achieving little or no notoriety, I am happy with that, because I have been successful in my attempts to avoid "wanted posters" in my pursuit of fame and fortune. Nevertheless, I continue to wander aimlessly through my journey in life, which of course takes you down roads not previously taken.

While I know I cannot stop the aging process, that doesn’t mean I have to think "old," ergo, I decided never to grow up. So when someone says, “D’Urso, why don’t you grow up?!” you can guess what my answer is. While I remain somewhat auspicious, I am also the type of person that believes in the notion that I am somewhat of a legend in his own right, or at least in his own mind; otherwise who else will? Of course, being a lawyer carries with it a certain amount of pretentiousness and egocentricity. Therefore, I can elevate that perception to a new dimension as I developed Anna's Simply Italian and its website. I also plan to teach others how to cook and to promote small catered events in the homes of others. In case you are wondering why, it is simple: Everyone has urges, or needs: Food, water, sleep and sex are the four we all know. But being different, there is one more added to the urges--culinary erotica. It actually became unmanageable, as it accentuated itself with each new recipe, I finally had to come out of the closet and declare myself to be, “bi-professional,” and that the urge to be in your kitchen was elevated to the point that I needed to make this declaration. Hence, I now have www.italianfoodstore.com, which is not your ordinary site, rather a combination of the many anomalies, including me!
All along, I kind of knew that there was a chef locked up inside my psyche. How could I know this? Well, when you appear in back alleys of restaurants, wearing a chef’s coat, peering into the kitchens watching and trying to get a grip on myself, resisting the temptation of going over to the dark side, the urge became such that I began walking by the men's room, pretending to be lost and winding up in kitchens, gives you an idea of who I have come to be.
I have come to learn over time that you need to pursue your real passion, regardless of what road in life you may have initially decided to travel. While any road will take you to somewhere, especially if you do not know where you are heading, that is not my situation. If that becomes your journey in life then you are on the road that leads to the house of never. So,I decided never to let others define who I am just because I have taken the roads no one else wishes to travel. Besides, that is why there are intersections! Sometimes you may go the wrong route, but at some point you wind up on the course you have chartered. As for me, I don’t intend to wind up at the “house of never,” saying if only I had. . . as I take my last breath on this earth!
Once I decided to follow my instincts, the change, although euphoric, was not as dramatic as if I were Martin Luther nailing his 99 theses upon the church door. Rather I just posted my menu options in our newsletter, and while the lawyer and the chef continue to be in conflict, they are learning to to co-exist with one another. Besides, it makes for great conversation, the lawyer and the chef! And yes . . . I have declared that indeed I am “bi-professional!”
